About Us:

Mid-South Cocker Spaniel Rescue, located in Memphis, TN, was founded in
2003 after the director adopted two female cocker spaniels from the Memphis
Animal Shelter as her own personal furbabies. The group's mission is to
help the many cocker spaniels who end up at the Memphis Animal Shelter but
are not adopted by the public. When space permits, we also pull cocker
spaniels from shelters in the surrounding communities and on rare occasions are
able to accept owner-surrendered cocker spaniels.

Although foster space and funds have been limited, we are proud to have rescued and rehomed 10-20 cockers per year since 2003. We have rescued cockers as young as 13 weeks and as old as 10-12 years, but most of our rescued cockers have been two to three years old.

Mid-South Cocker Spaniel Rescue has no "facility." Instead, all of our rescued wigglebutts stay in foster homes where they live as a member of the family until their forever homes can be found. While in foster care, they are treated for any known ailments and receive any training necessary to make them more adoptable to the public. Zelda, our rescue social director, makes sure that every cocker who enters our rescue learns the joy of
chasing balls and playing with squeaky toys.
